Code of Practice on the Management of Police Pursuits In 2009, the Home Secretary commissioned the NPIA to produce a Code of Practice on the Management of Police Pursuits. This followed a recommendation made by the IPCC in its 2007 report, 'Police Road Traffic Incidents, A Study of Cases Involving Serious and Fatal Injuries', which recommended that a code of practice on the management of police pursuits would improve consistency and practice across police forces. The draft code underpins more detailed ACPO Guidance on the Management of Police Pursuits, available from ACPO website which should be considered alongside the draft code.
