NPIA representatives will be speaking at the conference and available on the stand to demonstrate how the agency can assist the emergency services in achieving more effective levels of interoperability. Interoperability allows the emergency services to work together to deliver an effective and co-ordinated response to major incidents and events. Chief Inspector Jim Flooks is discussing how the emergency services can use the common platform - Airwave - to create opportunities for public safety officers to better communicate with each other. His presentation will be followed by Chief Superintendent Michael Hallowes who will talk about the options available for tri-service interoperability. The NPIA stand at the exhibition is based around the theme, Working together with Airwave, to: Richard Earland, Chief information Officer of the NPIA said, "Airwave provides a platform for radio communications interoperability between all the emergency services. A clear objective for 2008 is for the NPIA to support the police service and other partners in achieving interoperability using Airwave." In addition to the interoperability and fleetmapping managers, the NPIA stand will also have representation from the Automotive and Equipment Section who are responsible for testing the electromagnetic compatibility of communication's equipment within modern vehicles.
