Having recently completed a ten week secondment from PSNI to the NPIA as a course tutor on the International Commanders' Programme, I have been asked to complete a short overview of my experiences at Bramshill. Most of my training experience has been with new entrants into the PSNI and some leadership, management and skills training. This was the first occasion I had been involved with students from overseas and have thoroughly enjoyed the role of tutor on an international programme. There were a group of 14 students on the course from a diverse range of backgrounds with wide levels of experience. All students were willing to learn and to engage with the programme and it was very satisfying as a tutor, to see many of them grow measurably in condfidence and knowledge as the course progressed. There was also much for the staff team to learn from the students' policing and personal experiences and what shone through was the shared willingness to provide a high quality service to all communities, no matter on which continent they are to be found. The two police service attachments that the students underwent were of particular value and afforded them the opportunity to see how UK policing is delivered first hand. This is a programme that is making a real positive difference to policing on the world stage and is a programme of which the International Academy Bramshill at NPIA can be very proud. Supt.
