Fifteen delegates attended this inaugural investigation course, all of whom were police officers of various ranks and experience ranging from lieutenants through to colonels. They were accompanied by two English speaking translators, one of whom was a serving police officer, the other a civilian employee from the Saudi Ministry of Interior. The course was conducted at the International Academy Bramshill, delivered by two experienced tutors. It included the competencies of the Senior Investigating Officer, Crime Scene Assessment and Management and Interview Strategy. There were also excellent presentations on 'Human Rights' and 'Inter Agency working in Counter Terrorism' delivered by outside speakers. Delegates visited Loddon Valley police station, near Reading, courtesy of the Thames Valley Police, which was highly beneficial in exposing the delegates to UK practices in the area of custody procedures and operational policing. The delegation was also provided with a full social programme including cultural visits to London and other activities in the locality. At the closing ceremony the head of the Saudi delegation thanked the International Academy for the provision of an excellent course and hospitality. Superintendent Kevin Smith of the IAB stated that it was a pleasure to host the Saudi delegation and that they were a credit to their police service and country.
