ICP Week 2

23 October 2008

The two ICP courses got down to some serious classroom learning in week 2 of the programme.

ICP 122/08 and ICP 123/08

I took over from the first weeks class leader on Sunday 12th October.  The weeks busy schedule started in earnest on the 13th.  We had a submission of learning diaries in the morning to our Course Director Simon Stevenson.  These were returned later in the week with ideas where these could be improved.

We had four resourceful guest lecturers in the week.  From Monday to Wednesday for three consecutive days.  We enjoyed and learnt a lot from his wealth of knowledge in Criminology.  He also taught us a lot on Community Policing issues.

On Thursday we had the second two guest lecturers who taught us on community safety issues.  These were June Armstrong and Amanda Mulholland and we learnt a lot on community safety matters.  On Friday we had a very enjoyable lecture on Police and the Media by the last guest lecturer of the week Tony Diggins.  It was a practical subject and each and every one of us is now in a better position to face the media professionally.

Finally on the Saturday we had a joyful visit to London.  For those of us who were in Britain for the first time it was very interesting to be in London and we are looking forward to having another opportunity.

Eight more weeks of learning journey......
