Delegates arrived by coach after an overnight stay at Bramshill. They settled in very quickly and were escorted round the site by the tutors and course co-ordinator, Gina Glover. Although accompanied by an interpreter, all the delegates attempted English conversation, two in particular were fluent after previously studying in the UK. The staff at Ryton welcomed the group with an opening ceremony lead by Mark Byers and a buffet lunch of superb Arabic cuisine (researched on the Internet by the Catering Manager). The course tutors are very experienced in working with police officers from the Middle East and quickly established a rapport with the nine delegates in English and Arabic. The second week saw presentations from the Head of Security at the NY Stock Exchange, Paris, on Counter Terrorism in the UK and Europe. Supt Alison Queen, International Policing Advisor to Sub-Saharan Africa at International Academy Bramshill, gave a talk on dealing with domestic Terrorism. A visit was also organised to the Custody Suite at the Justice Centre, Nuneaton. The final dinner had again a very successful Arabic menu. Guests were welcomed from Warwickshire Police and the Heads of Site for Ryton and Bramshill both attended. Several participants wore national dress - including Roy and Stewart in attire donated by a past course delegate. The course was concluded by Supt Alison Queen, IPA to Africa, International Academy Bramshill. Gina Glover
