General Recruitment

Shortlisting

The recruitment panel will review your application form to assess how well your skills and experience match the requirements of the job.  The job description tells you what we are looking for.  The more your application supports and evidences the job you have applied for the better your chances of getting through the shortlisting stage.

Tests, practical assessments and presentations

As part of the selection process you may be asked to sit a test, assessment and/or presentation.  The type of test(s), assessment or presentation will depend on the role and you will notified prior to the assessment process.

Guaranteed Interview Scheme for People with Disabilities

Interview

Our interviews are competency based, we are looking for are clear examples of how your experience matches our competencies.  Our behaviour framework consists of the following:

Second Interview

Depending on the seniority of the role we may call you back for a second more informal interview.

Assessment Centres

On some occasions we do run assessment centres as part of the recruitment process, candidates will be informed where applicable.

Police Secondments

All Police Secondments are advertised on the Internet, Force Orders, and suitable publications and newspapers as required.

How to apply

Police Officers wishing to apply for a secondment post at the NPIA are required to complete the 'Application for Central Service Appointment within NPIA' form.   This form requires sign off by Chief Officers and/or HR therefore you will need to ensure that timing needs to be taken into account so that it meets the closing date.

Terms and Conditions

All Police secondments are made on the Central Services Agreement for Police Officers seconded to Central Service.

Civilian Secondments

All civilian secondment are advertised on the Internet, Force Orders and suitable publications and newspapers as required.

Terms and Conditions

Civilian Secondees shall remain employed by the Force during the secondment and current terms and conditions shall remain unchanged.  In particular, your period of continuous employment will remain unbroken, however, you must comply with NPIA procedures.
