Ten Years' Association with Abu Dhabi Police

Celebrations were recently held in Abu Dhabi to mark the tenth anniversary of the partnership between the International Academy Bramshill and the Abu Dhabi Police.

Senior staff from NPIA recently attended Abu Dhabi Police by invitation to commemorate the 10 years partnership in the delivery of the Abu Dhabi Police Leadership programme.  The NPIA delegation consisted of Shelagh O'Leary (Leadership Services Director), Kurt Eyre, (Head of the International Academy Bramshill), Superintendent Kevin Smith (Policing Advisor for Middle East and North Africa) and Superintendent Tim Meaklim (Strategic Leadership Programme Manager). Sir Ronnie Flanagan, HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary, was also in attendance representing UK Policing and responsible for delivering an address to mark this prestigious event on behalf of the NPIA Chief  Executive, Peter Neyroud.

The group were joined by the NPIA in country personnel and all were well received for the ceremony by the Abu Dhabi Police senior H.Q team.

His Highness, Sheikh Saifbin Zayed Al Nahyan, The Minister of the Interior, paid tribute to the NPIA and stated they we were one of the most distinguished institutions in the world and that their work would continue lead to improvements for the police and citizens of Abu Dhabi.  The British Ambassador, His Excellency, Sir Edward Oakden also commended the strong partnership and relationship between Abu Dhabi and UK.

An exchange of gifts took place outside the ceremony where Sir Ronnie Flanagan presented His Highness, the Sheikh with a reproduction painting suitably endorsed from NPIA and he received an engraved glass sword on behalf of NPIA from His Highness.

Sir Ronnie and the delegates from NPIA also met with His Highness Sheikh Saeed bin Mohammed Al Nahyan from the Ministry of the Interior.  Sheikh Saeed had visited UK in March 2008 where he met with senior staff from NPIA in Victoria Street offices.
