Overview


To develop the knowledge and skills of the Crime Scene Investigator in the role of a Level 2 CSI. The course is supported by officers from the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), Covert Training Unit- NPIA, and the Forensic Science Service (FSS).

Aims


To develop the knowledge and skills of the Crime Scene Investigator to effectively support the forensic opportunities of force Level 2 operations.

Objectives


On completion of the course the students will:

  • Understand the requirements of the surveillance operative
  • Recognise and resolve health and safety issues
  • Understand current legislation
  • Prepare forensic strategies
  • Utilise a range of forensic tactics to maximize intelligence and evidence recovery
  • Demonstrate competency within simulated scenes
  • Outline the role of SOCA and FSS
