The Chevening 2009 Tackling International Organised Crime has got under way for the fourth time at the International Academy Bramshill. This 12 week course is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and is attended by 14 students from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Ghana, Nigeria, Croatia, Albania, Barbados, Dominica, Trinidad and Colombia. The participants are mid career experts from all types of law enforcement involved in tackling international crime. The course has got off to an excellent start with the participants exploring best practice both in the United Kingdom and from international speakers from the United Nations and Canada. Tim Meaklim, the Course Manger is delighted with the level of learning on the current programme, "it is a fantastic programme, not only from the design point of view, but the range of backgrounds of the participants both professionally and culturally ensures that this is an exceptional learning opportunity for all involved. Of course the key outcomes are that the participants will make a difference when they return home and will continue to work with the network of Chevening Fellows and the UK agencies involved in tackling organised crime". The previous 3 Chevening Fellowship Programmes run at Bramshill have been evaluated by the British Council as the top Chevening Programme out of the 17 currently run. This achievement is all the greater when it is considered that all the other programmes are run by Universities. The programme will run until the 4 April 2009.
