Overview


The Hydra Course is a compulsory element of the SIO Development Programme and is a chance for delegates to put into practice the skills that they have learnt on their previous 3 week course and in the workplace. These skills can be practiced in a safe working environment through simulated immersion training.

Aims


To enable students to apply the skills of SIO to given case scenarios to demonstrate the professional and effective management and co-ordination of investigations in accordance with PIP Level 3.

Objectives


  • Manage the initial response to an investigation and implement fast track actions where appropriate
  • Plan and manage an investigation in accordance with the model of investigation, legislation and national and force policies
  • Identify, develop and contribute to the strategies required when conducting an investigation
  • Identify the specialists required to assist in the investigation
  • Conduct briefings and debriefings to relevant personnel
  • Ensure the investigation complies with Ethnic, Race & Diversity, Health & Safety policies
  • Create policy logs to accurately record the decisions during an investigation - ACPO Crime Committee Guidelines.
