Firearms Strategic Command
This licensed programme provides national consistency in the accreditation of officers performing the role of strategic commander across the range of firearms incidents. There are three elements to the programme: This course consists of an e-learning package, followed by a five day course consisting of classroom based input, immersive learning exercises and individual summative assessment by trained assessors who are operational firearms strategic commanders. The course will accredit successful delegates with occupational competence in the command of firearms related incidents at a strategic level. This course consists of an e-learning package, followed by a three day programme consisting of classroom based input, immersive learning exercises and individual summative assessment by trained assessors who are operational firearms strategic commanders. It provides successful delegates with the necessary re-accreditation for the role of strategic firearms commander, in line with the requirements of ACPO Armed Policing. An annual, non assessed, refresher package will be made available for local management and delivery from late 2009 - 2010. This will be released as an e-learning package which is being developed in line with the implementation of the ACPO Manual Of Guidance.
