The day sends a message of hope and solidarity at an international level to parents who do not know where their children are or what has become of them. On 25 May, 1979, six-year-old Etan Patz went missing in New York. He was never seen again. Over the following years, different organisations began to recognise this date and in 1983 the President of the United States declared 25 May as 'Missing Children's Day'. Please support International Missing Children's Day by making a £1 minimum donation and wearing a 'forget-me-not' badge, ribbon or wrist band. Contributions will be greatly received and your support will help the following charities: From 15 May, you can get a ribbon, badge or wristband from any of the NPIA site receptions or alternatively, log onto the Railway Children or Forever Searching websites, or buy them from Tesco Stores/Tesco Extra customer services desks.
