Who Should Attend?
Crime Scene Investigators who have completed Stage 1 of the Learning Programme. Volume Crime Scene Investigators who have completed Stage 1 and have been promoted to Crime Scene Investigator.
Course / Module entry requirements
Admission to the Foundation CSI Learning Programme requires the individual to be employed by the Police Service or other law enforcement agency. Completion of Stage 1 is a prerequisite for entry onto Foundation CSI Learning Programme Stage 2.

Course / Module duration
Thisn stage has 3 parts
. Pre course work - preparation of a case study presentation and written assignment (2000 words)
. A 4 week residential course
. A Professional Development Portfolio completed in the work place over a period of 6 months
Methods of delivery
The programme adopts a blended learning approach with e-learning, presentations, practical exercises, group work and reflective practice. The learning is student centred and they will be expected to take responsibility for their learning with close support from their force and NPIA.
Assessment process / accreditation details
There is a combination of assessment techniques including work place assessment against National Occupational Standards and a theory examination.
Certification
A certificate will be awarded when all parts of the module have been completed.

Overview
This stage is the second of two required to complete the Foundation CSI Learning Programme. Based on the premise that the Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) is a key part of the investigative team this stage aims to teach essential CSI skills and develop the investigative mindset.
Aims
The aim Stage 2 is to develop the Crime Scene Investigator with the additional skills and knowledge to enable them to deal with all crime types and incidents as expected as part of their role.

Suspicious deaths
Serious crimes against the person
