Who Should Attend?


The workshop is aimed at supervisors and managers from the police control room envirionment.

Course / Module entry requirements


There is no specific requirement but delegates should already have some knowledge of their own force Airwave setup including the type of hand held & vehicle terminals used, and Force Control Room configuration including ICCS equipment in use.

Classroom based delivery supported by delegate notes and delegate participation in Airwave communication problem solving scenarios.

Additional Information

Workshops are normally held at customer sites but can be held at NPIA sites if required. The workshops are provided for those staff who cannot or do not wish to attend the full Airwave Operational Tactical Advisors course, and will provide communications information specific to their role.

Overview


Workshops are to assist those engaged in control room supervision in relation to the national and local use of Airwave. This should complement the advice that can be given by the force Airwave team and any other authorised body.

Aims


To equip individuals with the knowledge to provide reliable and consistent advice on the use of Airwave to their staff, and assist with the initial identification of, communications issues during normal working, and available strategies when incidents occur.

Objectives


At the end of the workshop delegates will be able to:

  • Display awareness of national and local issues relating to the use of Airwave (including its limitations) e.g. capacity, coverage, and talk group management.
  • Undertand the issues relating to interoperability with other Airwave users including Emergency Services and sharers.
  • Assist senior command and the Force Airwave Team in setting efficient operating rules and working practices for Airwave use, particularly within the communications room.
  • Assist in reviewing current major force incident and contingency plans involving Airwave communications.
