The ongoing partnership between the State of Qatar - Ministry of Interior (MOI) and the NPIA continues with the successful delivery of a Crime Scene Managers Course at the Police Training Institute (PTI), Doha, between 29/03/09 and 07/05/09. The six week course was designed as a bespoke programme for crime scene managers in Qatar. Aims, objectives and learning outcomes were devised to match the competencies of the role. The programme focused on technical skills e.g. photography / fingerprinting and the skills and abilities necessary to effectively manage crime scenes e.g. the construction and implementation of evidence recovery plans. So congratulations to the trainers on the programme and a big thank you to the translator and the officers from the PTI, who provided administrative support and liaison, for a job well done. We now look forward to the delivery of a crime scene investigators' programme for non commissioned officers later this year.
There were 25 students on the programme from the Ministry of the Interior including Dr Borhamy Azmy - who is a teacher at the PTI. He is being primed and prepared to deliver low level 'forensic awareness training' at the PTI in the future. This will ensure that police officers will continue to develop an understanding of how important the field of forensic investigation is in modern policing.
The content of the course was generally considered by the students to be very good and operationally relevant for Qatari officers. The product itself was described as excellent with an overwhelming majority of students reporting that they would recommend the trainers and the training to others.
