Due to the ever changing nature of scientific support and new technological advances, it is recommended that all Crime Scene Investigators should attend the course every five years.

Overview


This course, for experienced Crime Scene Investigators, is designed to refresh the skills of the participants and introduce them to more specialist subjects such as archaeology and blood pattern analysis. It gives CSI's from all over the country the opportunity to discuss working practices and exchange knowledge in a safe learning environment.

Aims


To stimulate and encourage experienced Crime Scene Investigators to refresh, update and develop their knowledge and practical skills, with the emphasis on good working practice and Health & Safety developments.

Objectives


On successful completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Take responsibility for action planning and for carrying out practical tasks
  • Present the results of a case to their peer group for evaluation and discussion
  • Utilise a range of relevant equipment, techniques, resources and personnel within a structured sequence to maximise evidence recovery and widen their understanding of the value of differing evidence types
  • Demonstrate increased confidence, knowledge and expertise
  • Demonstrate a greater practical awareness of the following specialisms; digital photography, blood pattern awareness, forensic archaeology and odontology.
