Senior Police National Assessment Centre

The Senior Police National Assessment Centre (Senior PNAC) is a process to identify the future leaders of the Police Service. Superintendents and Chief Superintendents who aspire to ACPO/ACPOS rank are eligible to apply for assessment.

Latest News

At the Chief Officer Open Days earlier this year, it was announced that NPIA were considering the use of laptops to replace hand-written exercises used during the Senior PNAC / Senior Police Staff Assessment Process.  We can now confirm that this facility will be made available for both exercises involving written output (Chief Officer Briefing and Management Exercise)

Candidates will be written to shortly to confirm this decision and request their preference.  Further details, as to the delivery of the exercises using this format, will be provided in this letter.

Intake One

4 - 7 September 2010 (Candidates required evening of 3 September - 6 September)

Intake Two

9 - 12 September 2010 (Candidates required evening of 8 September - 11 September)

Intake Three

14 - 17 September 2010 (Candidates required evening of 13 September - 12 September)

How to Apply


Candidates intending to apply for Senior PNAC 2010 should be 'ready now' to operate at chief officer level.

Officers who are successful will attend the Strategic Command Course (SCC). Following success on the SCC officers will be eligible to apply for national chief officer roles. 

NPIA, in association with the Scottish Police College, delivered a series of Chief Officer Selection open days for potential candidates and the presentation from those Open Days can now be downloaded for your reference.

Application Dates

Please note the Assessment Centre will be delivered at NPIA Bramshill.

All appplication forms, bio-data collection forms and the Intent to Apply for a Reasonable Adjustment Form will be launched on this website. You should download the most recent copy of the forms on or after the launch date and no previous copies of any form shold be used as this could invalidate or seriously delay your application.

Disabilities

Please consult our Reasonable Adjustment Policy which outlines the process by which candidates with a disability may apply for reasonable adjustment. This includes candidates with a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD).

To apply for a reasonable adjustment for the Senior Police National Assessment Centre, candidates are required to complete a Notification of Intention to Apply for Reasonable Adjustment Form.

If you wish to consult a member of the occupational psychology team regarding reasonable adjustments please contact the team on (01423)876815 and we will arrange for someone to discuss your circumstances with you.

If you wish to apply for a reasonable adjustment for the 2010 assessment centre you will need to have returned your completed form to us by 28th May 2010. Please note that the form will be launched at the same time as the application form - do not use any previous copies.
