Conference Update

The Police Support Volunteers Conference took place on 11 and 12 September at the NPIA Ryton site.  The conference was opened by Superintendent Nick Adderley of Cheshire Constabulary.  

The conference provided an excellent forum for colleagues working on PSV initiatives to get together and discuss best practice and make valuable connections.  The conference was well attended with representatives from 38 forces, plus other stakeholders. 

Minister's Speech

David Hanson MP, Minister of State for Policing, Crime and Counter Terrorism provided a pre-recorded video message, which was played as the opening speech. A transcript of this speech is available.  Download transcript.

The Minister's pre-recorded message was followed by two presentations:

DCC Chris Lee of Dorset - ACPO lead for Police Support Volunteers (PSVs), presented on the subject of public confidence with a focus on how PSVs could contribute to increasing it.  View Chris's presentation.

Police Support Volunteer Business Plan

One of the major developments discussed at this conference was the recently finalised PSV business plan.  This is the first business plan for Police Support Volunteers and sets out a clear vision for Police Support Volunteer programmes, looking forward to 2013.  Download plan.
