Who Should Attend?


New staff working with Ident 1 Tenprint functionality in Bureau.

Course / Module entry requirements


Prior to attendance on the course the Tenprint Officer should have a thorough understanding of the following from the National Fingerprint Training Manual:

  • Section 5 - Fingerprint Pattern recognition
  • Section 6 - ACE-V & Principle of Fingerprint Identification
  • Section 9 - Palmar recognition

NB: The in-Bureau learning and practice of identification skills will be assessed on the first day of the course in both a theory and practical test. Failure to achieve the required standard will prevent the candidate's continuance on the course.

Hard copies of the appropriate sections of the National Fingerprint Training Manual and the course specific instructions for the student are an essential requirement to bring to this course.

Overview


An understanding of the theoretical knowledge and practical application of pattern definition, pattern coding and the identification process, supported by an overview of the law governing fingerprints. Training on IDENT1 which enables the student to access and correctly operate the 10-print functionality of the system.

Aims


To enable Tenprint officers to begin work in the Fingerprint Bureau.

Objectives


Successful students will be able to work with paper and the IDENT1 Tenprint databases in order to maintain accurate records in Bureau.
