Overview


This course is for experienced photographers who are making the transition from analogue to digital, in order to fulfil their role. As forces change to digital technology this is a useful course for personnel involved in that change.

Aims


To enhance the knowledge of Crime Scene Investigators, lab technicians and any other external agencies with an investigative role, to utilise the use of digital photography in the workplace, in the capturing of images with digital cameras and associated procedures.

Objectives


On completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Recognise and adhere to Home Office Guidelines
  • Appreciate the differences between conventional and digital cameras
  • Understand how digital cameras work
  • Understand different file formats used to store photographic images
  • Understand colour temperature and appreciate the need for correct white balance
  • Use the flash with digital cameras and appreciate the benefits of dedicated systems
  • Relate theory to practise with scene orientated exercises (conventional photographic techniques with the digital camera)
