Specials QA and New Exercise Training Course

Who Should Attend?


Delegates must have either successfully completed the Specials Recruit Assessor Course or be a qualified SEARCH or PCSO Assessor.  Ideally delegates will have already assessed at an Assessment Process.

Time: 09:00 - 17:00 per day

Methods of delivery

Phase One: Pre read sent to delegates

Phase Two: Classroom based 2 day course, including a range of individual and group exercises. Delegates will be required to demonstrate competence in assessing Competency Based Questionnaires, written exercises and competency based structured interviews.

Assessment process / accreditation details

Specials recruit Assessment Process - QA & New Exercise Trained

Certification

Upon successful completion of this course delegates will be awarded the NPIA Specials Recruit Assessor Course certificate of attendance.

Delegates will then need to demonstrate competence in each of the components (assessing written exercises and interviewing) for one session at a live Specials Recruit Assessment Process, before achieving qualification in that component.

All candidates that complete the Competency Based Questionnaire module will automatically be added as qualified CBQ assessors in the CASA system.

Additional Information

On completion of this course delegates will be able to QA at a Specials Recruit Assessment Process.

If a force chooses not to undertake this course prior to their first Assessment Process, and does not have qualified CBQ assessors in force, the Recruit Team can assess CBQs on their behalf. This service is charged at £3 per CBQ marked.

The first course is currently free to Home Office forces.

Subsequent courses will cost £1000 and Forces will be required to book their own trainer accommodation if required.

The aim of the course is to provide delegates with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding of the Quality Assurance and Exercise Training role undertaken throughout the Specials recruit assessment processes. 

Objectives


By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Explain the reason for QA as it relates to Specials Recruit Assessment Processes
  • Explain the QA role
  • Recognize when and how to complete the appropriate QA documentation
  • Evaluate assessor's competence through observation
  • Explain and use the principles of feedback
  • Demonstrate competence in the relevant Specials Recruit Assessment Process exercises
