Who Should Attend?

This is the gateway module for the Senior Leadership Programme and is aimed at Superintendents and police staff equivalent holding senior management positions.

Course / Module entry requirements

Applications for the Senior Leadership Programme must be sent to Customer Support Team via the Force Training Manager or equivalent and all nominees:

  • Must be Superintendent rank or police staff equivalent
  • Ideally have completed the NPIA Foundation for Senior Leaders Programme
  • Have the full backing and support of their Chief Officer

Course / Module duration

EDHR in Action will be delivered over four days as one of the core gateway modules to the revised Senior Leadership Programme

This module will be delivered using subject matter expert input, facilitated discussions and presentations

Completion of this module contributes  towards the following Chartered Management Institute qualification:

  • level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership

Overview

This module explores current issues around equality, diversity and human rights, enabling participants in their role as senior leaders to develop relationships with diverse groups, building,  maintaining and enhancing community confidence

Aims

The aim of this module is to enable the delegate to develop a strategic business case for Equality, Diversity and Human Rights which is focused on maximising trust and confidence in the police and improving service delivery.

Objectives

By the end of this module learners will be able to:

  • Promote equality, diversity and human rights in working practices
  • Enable organisations to attract and retain personnel from all communities
  • Develop, implement and review organisational strategies related diversity, equality and human rights issues
  • Develop policies that encourage the recruitment, retention and progression of under represented groups, identifying interdependencies when developing business cases and applying Equality Impact Assessments to the development of policy
