The full programme will be suitable for crime prevention and community safety officers.  It is offered to crime and disorder reduction partners from all agencies.

Eight weeks pre-attendance learning.
(22 hours in total)
Two weeks in class.
Post attendance assessment.

Overview


This programme will provide individuals with the skills and knowledge to apply and understand crime prevention techniques to develop safer communities. The modules can be taken as a block or individually.

The programme includes:

  • key principles of crime prevention;
  • security products;
  • conducting a site survey;
  • problem solving methods;
  • information gathering and sharing;
  • partnership working;
  • counter terrorism;
  • initiating and running a crime reduction project;
  • relevant legislation.

Aims


The programme will equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to apply and understand crime prevention techniques to develop safer communities.

Objectives


By the end of the programme learners will understand and be able to apply:

  • underpinning knowledge for the role of crime prevention officer;
  • the techniques and tools of the role.
