Overview


This course aims to explore aspects of the role of PNC Managers in order to help people undertake the role effectively.

Aims


To enable delegates to explore relevant aspects of legislation and current practice relating to the core functionality of the Police National Computer as a management, operational support and investigative tool. Particular emphasis is placed on the security and management of PNC data with their organisation.

Objectives


At the end of the course a delegate will be able to:

  • Give a basic explanation of the PNC system functionality in relation to their individual roles as system supervisors or managers
  • Explain the current legislation affects the role of a PNC Manager
  • Explain the relationship between police organisations, NPIA and the regional and national PNC groups
  • Explain the audit and analysis procedures that can be used in relation to local quality assurance
  • Explain the audit and analysis procedures that can be used in relation to HMIC monitoring
  • Explain how the development of new national and European police computer systems affects the role of a PNC Manager
