First Aid Skills for Policing (FASP) Module 1 - Emergency Life Support

Who Should Attend?


This module is aimed at those staff who require first aid training.

Please note: Staff attending FASP module two or three do not need to attend FASP module one.

Course / Module duration

1/2 day or up to four hours.

Methods of delivery

Providing theoretical and practical experience this course will be delivered through a combination of presentations and demonstrations with replication by delegates, combined with continual observation and coaching by course trainer.

Assessment process / accreditation details

Continuous assessment plus final assessment of the students' practical and theoretical ability to manage an appropriate emergency first aid situation.

Certification

First Aid Certificates are valid for a period of one year from certification.

Additional Information

Refresher training must take place every year as part of the training will focus on new procedures and changes to practice that have been introduced since the delegates' previous training. 

The ratio of delegates to trainers will be a maximum of twelve to one.

The module can be adapted to suit a particular need for a particular organisation which can be taught in its entirety or on a modular basis.

Costs will be calculated on a case to case basis according to training course and number of delegates involved.

Overview


This module consists of emergency life support training. The module is also contained in FASP modules two and three.

Aims


To provide delegates with the necessay knowledge, understanding and skill to enable them to carry out basic emergency life support.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Manage an emergency situation at work
  • Administer first aid
  • Carry out emergency life support
