National Police Library

In today's world, information and resources are growing at an unprecedented rate and the National Police Library can make all the difference by linking you with essential information in a timely way.

We cover all aspects of policing - police science, criminal justice, legislation, cases, training, management and social sciences.

All UK police officers and police staff have free access to our full information resources and services on completion of the borrower registration form.

We are also able to assist non-police researchers - see 'Using the Library' for information.

The library is housed in a Jacobean mansion on the Bramshill estate.

Improved online catalogue search. On 3rd March 2010 the catalogue search system was enhanced to give a number of benefits including:  restricting searches by date range, improved brief display showing book cover images, streamlined requesting system.

Disruption to stock access.  The ceiling of the Long Gallery in the Bramshill Mansion, which houses the major part of the National Police Library's collection, is being repaired. Library staff still have access to much of the collection and will do their best to retrieve requested material for you. For health and safety reasons, the room is out of bounds to readers.
