We are a team of psychologists and police staff working to ensure that the recruitment, assessment and selection processes employed by the Police Service conform to the highest principles.

We are responsible for:

• OSPRE® Part I and OSPRE® Part II - the national police promotion qualification system for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
• Administration and support services in relation to work-based assessment
• Police SEARCH® - the National Recruit Assessment Centre for the police forces of England and Wales
• National Investigators' Examination
• Bespoke examination and assessment consultancy services
• PCSO Recruit Assessment Process
• Senior Selection products, which include the selection process for HPDS, Senior PNAC and the Senior Police Staff Assessment Process for the Strategic Command Course

To support these functions we also deliver training courses relating to examinations and assessment to the wider police family.

In addition, as the executive function of the IPLDP Central Authority, we are also responsible for the Initial Police Learning and Development Programme (IPLDP). This product is the route for newly recruited officers to be trained and to demonstrate their competence as police constables.
