Tom took over as PITO's Director of Operational Services early in 2003 - a role that put him in charge of the Police National Computer (PNC) and a number of other key national police applications.
Director of Support to Policing Operations
The ongoing management of a range of IT applications delivered under the National Strategy for Police Information Systems (NSPIS) was within Tom's area of responsibility at PITO, as was the running of newer national applications such as the Violent and Sex Offender Register (ViSOR).
Tom has more than 25 years' experience in technical roles and in providing support to customers. At Marconi he was responsible for first and second line support to customers in Asia and Australia - bringing together a number of technical assistance centres under one umbrella.
He was also in charge of Marconi's Network Operation Centre in Sydney, where he looked after customer IT networks and hosting services across Australia.
Tom spent a number of years as Director of Business Development with Nortel and has worked in technical roles for research and development, manufacturing and support organisations.
