Positive Action Leadership Programme (PALP)
The Programme has run in its present form since 2007 and more than 3,000 delegates have benefited from it from police forces throughout the UK. The Programme was evaluated in its early stages and a further evaluation is projected for 2010. PALP encourages the retention and progression of members of underrepresented groups in the Police Service. It is available to all members of the Police Service who fit the target audience and delegates have gone on to win promotion and selection for specialist roles. The Programme is delivered at NPIA sites free of charge and regionally for individual forces at their request on a limited cost recovery basis, it includes 8 discreet modules and is normally delivered over 4 days. While there are other personal development courses available, the Positive Action Leadership Programme Delivered by NPIA is the only programme that is specifically aimed at retention and progression within the police service. As such it has been recognised as good practice by both the Home Office and ACPO. It is delivered by four dedicated tutors and experienced facilitators in the field of diversity who assist other programmes delivered by NPIA. Supt Ramzan Mohayuddin is the Head of Positive Action Leadership Programme. Read PALP course sheet for dates, availability and further information Overview
