The Programme has run in its present form since 2007 and more than 3,000 delegates from police forces throughout the UK have benefited from it. Its ongoing evaluation has shown it to be a valuable programme to those from under-represented groups. PALP encourages the retention and progression of members of under-represented groups in the Police Service. It is available to members of the Police Service up to the rank of inspector and police staff eqyuivalent. After completing this programme a number of delegates have gone on to win promotion and selection for specialist roles. The Programme is delivered at NPIA sites and regionally for individual forces at their request, it consists of discrete modules and is delivered over 4 days. While there are other personal development courses available, the Positive Action Leadership Programme delivered by NPIA is the only programme that is specifically aimed at retention and progression of under-represented groups within the police service As such it has been endorsed by both the Home Office and ACPO. It is delivered by dedicated and experienced facilitators in the field of diversity. C/Supt Pete Davies is Head of the Positive Action Leadership Programme.
