The purpose of this code is:-

• To set out clear guidelines to police forces concerning the minimum standard of data submission to the Serious Crime Analysis Section (SCAS)
• To promote the use of SCAS in its main role of crime linkage and analysis by virtue of specifying the importance of complete data submission.
• To clearly outline the criteria of cases that should be submitted to SCAS and place the onus on chief officers to monitor these compliance rates, particularly in terms of timely submission.
