National Advisors
Has a remit to provide operational support to forces in relation to search matters. These include: . Homicides, no body murders, missing persons, abductions & mass fatality disasters. The National Search Advisor is also a member of the Major Disaster Advisory Team (MDAT) and acts as liaison officer with the Police National Search Centre regarding CBRN and CT search issues. In cases of multiple suspects or where witness testimony is likely to be key, the services of the National Interview Advisor are available. The current Advisor is an experienced Detective Chief Inspector who is able to provide advice and guidance in relation to the interviewing of suspects, victims and witnesses across a broad range of criminality with particular reference to PACE Codes and National Standards. For example: The Advisor works closely with SIO's and Interviewing Officers to develop bespoke interview strategies as well as contributing to the development of doctrine the PIP Programme and the delivery of training. Other complex investigations where there are suspects within the family or other sensitivities may benefit from the advice of the National Family Liaison Advisor. The current Advisor has written the Family Liaison Manual, devised and delivered training nationwide and advises and assists UK Police Forces (and Interpol) in the development and delivery of Family Liaison strategies at both strategic and tactical level. His specialism spans crime, terrorism and major disaster resulting in him advising and developing Family Liaison strategies in respect of the victims of 9/11, the Bali bombings, the Tsunami, the London bombings on 7 July 2005 and the subsequent bombings in Egypt. He has worked recently with ACPO Emergency Procedures Working Group to devise the concept of the Family Assistance Centre which he was instrumental in putting into place after the London bombings. . Review previous search activity or strategies on critical and cold cases.
. Prepare and write search strategies for SIO or PolSA action.
